It is expected that, the Hon. T, J. Mackenzie will bo present at the Mitioiul Dairy Show next week. His Excellency the. Governor (Lord Is3int;lon) will attend tho Lngbsh 1 übhc Schools Old Boys' dinner at Palmerston North. 011 Juno 20. Private advico was received in town today announcing the death, at Boston Inn morning, of Mrs White, wife of the licensee of Why to' 6 Hotel. Mr St. C. Jounneaux, who has been a patient in a private hospital for the past iwo or three weeks, returned home yesterday. He is making excellent progress towards coinpleto recovery.
Prior to his departure for Sydney, yesterday. Mr J. Morris, of tho Ipca branch of the Bank of New South Wales, was presented with a handsomo case of pipes by the manager and tho stall as a token of their respect.
Mr J. Hammond, the now well-known ariator. arrived in Feilding, his home, yesterday by tho express from fellingion. Mr Hammond oxpecta to ;.lay about six weeks in Feilding, and later on. in thy, summer, will givo dying exhibitions if necessary guarantees are forthcoming. An accident of a somewhat serious nature befell Captain Pressor on tiie Railway Wharf at Auckland. While supervising tho unloading of Mimo slag from tlio Matatua into trucks on the wharf. Captain Prosser was caught and jambed against the side of the truck, receiving several broken ribs, and, it 13 feared, • some internal injuries. Captain Prosser was, until latterly, master of ono of tho Shaw, Savill boats, and now holds ilin position of shoro stevedore ior tlio company. _____
