Reassuring advice was received in Palmerston this morning concerning tho condition of Mr Harry Palmer. Tho letter convening tho news stated that Mr Palmer had taken a turn for the better. The Mayor of Wellington (Mr Wilford) is recovering from the eifeels of his recent operation, but, it will be some weeks before he is in a state 10 resume active duties. Mr J. Duncan, member for Wairau. was a visitor to Palmerston to-day. Mr Duncan is paying a short visit to the Manawatti and Wairarapa, districts, journeying to Woodville later in the day. Mr D. Buick, M.P., has sufficiently recovered from his recent severe illness to be about again. Tho beautiful weather to-day enabled the member for Palmerston to visit town for a few hours, where many friends congratulated him on his progress towards health. Sir William Russell, with Lady Russell and Miss Russell, will probably rriturn to New Zealand in November. Sir William delivered a. rather effective impromptu speech at tho Merchant Tailors' dinner, at which he wa6 one of tho principal guests. The death occurred at Oainaru on Tuesday of Miss Louisa U. deary, who was Assistant teacher at Feilding some years Ago. _ Afterwards she was teaching at Llokitika, and for some time past has been living in Feilding, where she will Bo buried. Bishop Xeligan, formerly of Auckland, having satisfied his London doctor as 0 his lilness for pastoral work, provided it be not too hard, has accepted the rectory of Ford, Northumberland, a quiet village with a beautiful rectory, the stipend accompanying the benefice being sufficient- to place the new rector's family £>pyond financial anxieties. A London correspondent writes that Mrs R. Milton, of Palmerston, who has been ibsent from New Zealand for tho past hree years, has been spending the internal touring in Groat Britain, France, Switzerland, and the Channel Islands, and ivill witness the Coronation. Mrs Milton sxpect-s to be back in New Zealand at the ;nd of tho year. The wedding was celebrated in All Saints' Cluirch this afternoon, by Rev. [I. Wilson of Rongotea, of Miss Elizabeth \lve, daughter of Mrs Alve, of Rangitanc, o Mr Peter Petersen, son of Mr and Mrs- Petersen, of Fitzherbcrt. Tho bride, ,vho was given away by her brother, was ittended by Misses Harris, Alve, and Petersen as bridesmaids. Mr R. Mercer ,vas best man. A reception was subsequently held at Rawlins' tea rooms.
