The railway duplication works at Wyee, about-, six miles from Morriss'ett, New South -Wales, were the scene of a disastrous. explbsion.- recently, ■ as a result of the firing ,of a powder magazine. A youth, .John Donaldson", was literally blown to pieces, and a blacksmith, whose namo is-._not.-at present obtainable, was severely- injured. Donaldson was employ-ed-as ..a;'..powder monkey with Eraser's gang,-and,.ivent into tho magazine in the course :of .'his duties. Ho had just entered the structure, when there was a terrifying roar,, and tho place was blown to'atoms. The ground itself was torn up, and small buildings in the vicinity completely levelled. The concussion was distinctly felt in Morrisset. Tho police were quickly on the scene, but- were unable to collect any portions of Donaldson's body beyond a few bones. Tho blacksmith was working in a shop not far from tho magazine. Ho was hurled to tho ground by tho force of the explosion, and was picked up in an unconscious state.
