Mr Charles Wilson, Parliamcntray librarian, has been elected chairman of Victoria College Council. Miss Hilda Stevens, daughter of Mr J. Stevens, of' Palmevston, left by tho T-.ii-nui to-day for London, after visiting her people here. The friends of Mr W. IT. Morris, of Newbury, will regret to hear that lie has been confined to his room for over a week. It will be some timo before Mr Morris will be about again, According to the cable man Mr Andrew Fisher, Australia's Labour Premier, was easily observed at the great Victoria memorial function, he being the only person in civil attire. Mr A. Buchanan, of Jersey Holme. Palmerston, has returned from his visit to Australia,, arriving in Wellington yesterday. Mr'Buchanan was greatly impressed by the signs of nrogress ho noted during his stay in the Commonwealth. Air W. F. Massey. leader of the Opposition. leaves Auckland for the south about May 23rd. He intends delivering a series of speeches, visiting in turn Waimate, Oamaru. Riverton. Invercargill. Ashburton, and Akarna. When in Otago lie will reply to the speech given by the Hon. J. A.' Millar, at Dunedin. Later he will address rmblic meetings in Wellington and Auckland. v
