MANAWATU HUNT CLUB.

Members of the Manawatu Hunt Club met at Fitzhorbert East on Saturday afternoon, assembling at the residence of the President of tlie Club (Mr S. R. Lancaster). The trail was laid from his property across the farms of Messrs Kyle, Anderson, Stace and Petersen, eventually ending at Mr S. R. Lancaster's, where refreshments were kindly dispensed by Mesdames Lancaster and Shaw, and were fully appreciated by the riders. Tlie drag was laid by Messrs H. R. and H. Lancaster, and they selected some excellent country. Mr T. Shaw, DeputyMaster, was. in charge of the field, and Mr J. Shaw acted as whip. The hounds were in excellent condition, and Mr J. Sweeney, Huntsman, is making a great improvement in them. At the conclusion of the run a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the ladies and the property owners, on the motion of Mr J, G. Jamieson, cheers being given for each. The following were included among those out:—Messrs J. Sweeney (huntsman), on Consul; N. Baigent, Winata; J. Donaldson, Jack; T. Shaw (acting master), Merrylegs; I. Shaw (whip), Kaka; H. R. Lancaster, Ongarue; J. L. Buick, Totara; R. Green, The Judge; Geo. Scales, Shamrock; L. Lumsden, Katipo; Bruce McEwen, Belle; Noel Wood, Chasscj J. P. O'Connor, Ennerdale. In the evening a meeting of the committee of the Club was held at the secretary's office. There were present:—Messrs S. R. Lancaster (president, in the chair), B. McEwen, J. P. Connor, J.Donaldson, H. McEwen. J. Gr. Jamieson, L. Lumsden, M. McEwen, H. Lancaster, T. Shaw, J. L. Buick, H. D. Buchanan, and J. Sweeney.

The Chairman reported that in ac'cordance with a suggestion by the Manawatu A. and P. Association he had waited upon Messrs Collinson and Cunninghamc, and they had agreed to their Hunters' Cup being competed for at the Winter Show, instead of tho spring fixture, as originally decided. The meeting decided that one of the conditions of the competition should be that horses must havo_ followed the hounds at least, three times during tho present season; The resignation of Mr G. Shannon, who is leavin the district, was received with much regret, and Mr Bruce McEwen -was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy of Master. Eulogistic reference was made to Mr Shannon's past services to the Club, and he was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. It was decided to appoint a Feilding (Committee, with the idea of getting

some runs. ■ ' The Cliairman reported that four hounds had been received from Napier, and it was resolved to secure a number of others from Auckland to strong-, then the pack.
