A girl who was arrested for stealing at Matlock, Derbyshire, jumped into the rivor. A policeman followed her, but tho girl gripped him and refused to release her-hold. Both were drowned, A second policeman..repeatedly-dived into 15ft ofwater but could not succeed in rescuing the victims.
