(Pun Phem ARPOCUTfON.* DANNEVIRKE, March 25. The Native Minister yesterday met the Maori of the Mangatoro block to confer with them with a view to the Government purchasing it for close settlement. _ , In the evening, tho Minister received two deputations; one from the Ohaml.(er of Commerce asking jhe Government to reserve the Tiratu, Tahoraiti and Mangatoro blocks for settlement, the other from the A. and P. Association asking for an extension of tenure of the Domain. In both cases the Minister indicated that the Government would take the necessary steps, it being understood that the rights of natives have to be considered and their consent to a sale obtained in the case of the blocks.
