RANGIOTU.
ITO THE EDITOB.) i Sir—The thanks of the Oroua Bridge district are due to the. Rongotea Chamber of, Commerce, for their action, and to.you for your comments on, the subject of the appointment of a stationmaster for the Rangiotu station. As you rightly observe, there aro many stations of far less importance in charge of an official. Year by year the 'amount of butter, flax and other produce railed from, and _to the Bridge, increases. With the opening up of. the Puketotara estate a further addition to the traffic may be confidently looked for. If-the.Minister for Railways were to see the station yard, as is commonly the case, so packed with 1 drays and other . vehicles that it is almost impossible to turn round he would quickly make up his mind as to the advisability of the appointment, But, in tho meantime, what are the Palmerston North and Foxton Chambers of Commerce doing ? This matter touches them as nearly, if not more than, that of any representation should be made as strong as possible, and I would suggest that these Chambers should co-operate with their brethren of Rongotea, when I have little doubt that, the reasonable request will be favourably considered by the Minister and the Department—l am, etc OROUA BRIDGE.
