ATHLETIC.
The Manawatu Amateur Athletic Club is receiving very encouraging reports in regard to the sports, which- it ■is holding on March Bth. The gathering which will be held on the Sportsground, is timed to commence at 2 p.m., and as the day selected is the'.weekly, half-, holiday pleasure-seekers will no 'doubt find their way down in large numbers. The programme, which appears on page 1, should provide ample'opportunity-for all runners, while, the trophies compare very favourably with those presented by any club in the Dominion.- Among the trophies figure two gold bracelets., These have been allotted to tho 220 yards race, and no doubt.this will be the "race of tho day, Another event that is awakening considerable interest is the race, for Boy Scouts. We are informed that the scouts are training assiduously,' and as • they race in uniform this ovont will bo worth watching. Intending competitors .should make a note of the day fixed for closing entries, .March Ist.
