South Australia, was concluded to-day in warm weather, and before an attendance of 2000. The wicket was fast, but worn. Nourse and Schwarz, batting brilliantly, scored 50 in 25 minutes. Schwarz reached 50 in 48 minutes. When the seventh wicket had added 114 in 56 minutes Schwarz was bowled. He hit onesix and six? fours in an innings of 64. j Seven- wickets for 466 runs. Nourse batted five hours, and gave chances at 7, 131 and 139. He hit 22 fours. He began defensively, but finished vigorously, hitting hard and clean. Crawford bowled best for the home team, but was unlucky. The fielding- was poor. . As the South Africans are leaving for Melbourne to-morrow only 350 minutes remained for play, and South Australia's winning chance was therefore regarded as hopeless. . Mayne and Zschorn began nicely, but at 34 Zschorn was caught'in the slips. Clom Hill appeared uneasy with the African's "googlies," and when he had scored five was missed in the. slips on. Schwarz. In the next over he was very easily stumped. Three for 52. With the score at 65 Crawford was caught from a sharp return to. Vogler, and five rune later Schwarz held a hot return from S. Hill. Schwarz at midon missed a warm chance from Gehrs off Vogler. Pcgler relieved Vogler and ecmvarz bowled Chamberlain with a bailer. At the tea adjournment the score was six wickets for 122 runs. Vogler and Schwarz bowled after tea, and Gehrs punished the bowling, scoring 25 in ten minutes. He then ran out to a ball from Schwarz, and was bowled at 156. Rees was bowled at 164, and ten runs later Whitty was caught on the boundary. Pegler relieved Vogler, and soon got Campbell's wicket, the innings closing for 176, South Africa thus winning- by 281 runs. ~,,,, The Africans fielded finely.
