WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

The Education Board met last evening. There were present: Messrs Pirani (chairman), Dixon, Purnell, Aldridge, Spurdle, O'Dea, Bennett, and Fraser.

The resignations of A. A. Andrews (Sedgbrook) and A. M. Anthony (Kaukatea) were accepted. Leave of absence on account of illhealth was granted to A. McDonald, Marton D.H.S. (one week), G. Greenaway Himatangi (one month's extension), F. Clapham, Makowhai (one month), M. Barkla, Eltham (three weeks), G: Kerr, Mangaweka (two weeks), F. E. Perry, Mangawhio (one week), M. O. Walton, Lytton Street (from November 7th to end of year), E. S. Deighton, Upper Kawhatau (one week), M. Miles, St. John's (two months), M. Baskin, Marton D.H.S. (from October 10th to end of year), L. F, Brewer, Pipiriki. Leave of absence was granted to twenty-two teachers to attend examinations. . , , ' Mr E. M. Menzies, -«rhq ; bad been headmaster of the Matarawa. Mr Purnell is to see to painting ot Parewanui school. Thirteen dual desks are to be supplied. Application is to be made for an 80-school at Cameron's Line. The Education Board granted the Terrace 'End School Committee half cost of the hvloplate for the new room at the school: - . Mr Aldridge was authorised to report as to the advisability of applying for a grant for a school building at Moawhango. The Board then adjourned till either December 7th or Bth. the date deponing on the Girls' College prize distribution.
