SUICIDE.

At Feilding yesterday afternoon Robert Carswell, 29 years of age, and latterly in the employ of the Wellington Harbour Board, committed euicide by cutting his throat with a razor at the Denbigh Hotel where he was staying for a couple of weeks. Deceased had been ill _ for some time past, and was in Feilding with his brother on a health-recruiting trip. He had spent all the morning with his brother, and after lunch said he would lie down. His brother, John Carswell, placed a rug over him and left the room. An hour later, on reentering the room, he found deceased lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Dr Johnsfcoii was sent for, and on arrival said death must have occurred half an hour earlier. An inquest will be held.

THE INQUEST.

(Per Press Association.) FEILDING, May 27. At the inquest on Robert Carswell this morning the evidence showed that deceased was employed by the \\ ellington Harbour Board. Owing to ill health he came here for a rest, and while in his bedroom by himself he apparently stood in front of the looking glass and cut his throat with a razor. He had been suffering from delusions. , , A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. Carswell came to New Zealand from Scotland two years ago.
