AN ADVERTISEMENT WITHDRAWN.

MELBOURNE, May 27, The Minister for External Affairs has directed Sir George Reid, Australian Commissioner in London, to withdraw an advertisement in the English papers dealing with production in Australia, and published with a view to attracting immigrants. Ihe Minister considered this and some other published information exaggerated and misleading. The Trades Hall Council has appointed a deputation to inteiview Mr Fisher and protest against bir Cteoige Raid's immigration policy as misleadlllg' LONDON, May 26. Sir George Reid, interviewed concerning his specch in April on emigration, 6aid that any distinction between healthy poor law children and those of other classes was drawing a most odious money line, but the emigration of young people must be 6trictly safeguarded and limited to absolute requirements. There shouki be homes in the interior awaiting the children.
