WILL DO HIS UTMOST TO MAINTAIN IT. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) .Feb Press Association.) BERLIN. May 26. It 16 semiofficially stated at Berlin that the Kaiser has expressed to M. Pichon, Frcnch Foreign Ambassador, his confidence in the maintenance of European peace and his determination to do his utmost to contribute thereto. The idea of European confederation was not mentioned, and has not rcceivcd his Majesty's consideration. "EDWARD, THE PEACEMAKER." LONDON, May 26. Lord Rosebery, in a speech at Edinburgh, said the meeting of the Kaiser and King George at Westminster Hall had struck the imagination of the world. Was it, asked Lord Rosebery, too much to hope that "Edward the Peaoemaker" had bequeathed a great legacy of peace. He left Parliament in a condition of acute division. Might we not hope by the solemn communion of parties at Westminster Hall that ho left peace even in the politics of the United Kingdom.
