Lord Mcthuen, speaking at Pietermaritzburg, advocated that the defenoe of Durban should be improved. It would be a great port in the future and required two or three guns powerful enough to keep off cruisers, also tho installation of searchlights for tho detection of smaller craft. Ho advocated a Military Collego "or South Africa.
