COURSING.

A SUCCESSFUL DAY.

After we went to press yesterday afternoon the finale in the different events at the coursing matches at Terrace End were run off, with,the following results:

NOVICE CUP,

Second Round. Dusky Queen beat Maximised Miss Bodmin beat Lady Lucy. Ngatarua. a bye. Semi-Fmal.

Miss Bodmin beat Ngatarua. Dusky Quee-a a bye. Final.

Dunky Queen beat Miss Bodmin, and won.

TERRACE END BRACELET. Semi-Final.

Sandy Drummond beat Barn Bluff. Balaclava a bye.

Final. Balaclava beat Sandy Drummond. MEMBERS' MAIDEN STAKE.

First dog cup, second gold medal. Seven dogs entered. . J. Hannan's Dan O Connell beat G. Nightingale's Powelka. H. Desmond's Milford Sound beat J. Hannan's Sunny Morn. A. H. Rogers' Master Gunner beat J. Hastie'e Jupitor. G. Brown's Gunsmith a bye. Semi-Final. Dan O'Connell beat Milford Sound. Gunsmith beat Master Gunner. Final. Dan O'Connell beat Gunsmith. The coursing throughout the afternoon was excellent, only five hares falling victims to their pusuers. Several of she matches wore very close, results being determined by half a point. All the officials were au fait in their duties, and despite the weather the afternoon was most enjoyable.

In connection with the Waterloo meeting, to be held hero, the Club's Committee has decided to put up stand accommodation for ladiee and provide an enclosure for the bookmaking fraternity. The 6take is limited to 64 dogs, -but shows every sign of filling, though hitherto 52 doge has been the main. It is intended to run. a couple more events like yesterday in August, with the object of enabling owners of dogs to a6certain the capabilities of their chargee. By holding a local meeting the Club is able to charge less than the standard fee and owners are able to see if their dogs are up to first-class form or not.

The handsome trophies competed foi yeeterday were presented by the Clr.l: and Messrs J. White, H. Webb and H. Overton.
