CLASSIFYING THE PALMERSTON
JUNIORS
A great deal of indignation has been expressed at the action of the Manawatu Rugby Union in classifying four Palmerston juniors at this late stage of the competitions. The .members of the Palmerston Club contend that the action will completely disorganise their junior and third-class teams. The decision appears to have been conic to somewhat hastily by the Union Management Committee, and a requisition has been handed in to the President of the Union asking that a spccial meeting be called to reconsider the matter. A special meeting has therefore been called for tomorrow night, and Mr McWilliams has given notice to move at, such meeting that the resolution passed on Monday night be rescinded. The requisition handed in reads as follows: —"We the undersigned members, of the Manawatu Rugby Football Union Management Committee desire you to call a meeting of the Management Committee before Saturday next to reconsider the decision of the Management Committee at the last, meeting in classifying four of the Palmerston North Club's juniors a.s seniors. The same we contend having been done without any direct evidence as to individual superiority and without any request from the clubs competing in the same competition, and if carried out will, we consider, have a detrimental effect, upon football in the district.—C. McWilliams, Harry P. Midler. J. T. Pickett."
The Palmerston Club held an indignation meeting in the gymnasium last night, Mr Torstonson presiding. It was decided to appoint Messrs Boon, Stubbs and Torstonson a delegation to the Manawatu Rugby Union to-morrow night to put the Clirb's case before the meeting.

"Jackeytown scored through Passey. This put now life into the Jackeytown players, who played up vigorously, and by their persistency gained three more goalsr The whistle sounded directly after, Jackeytown thus winning a pleasant and well-contested game by 4 goals to 1. The Celts, with a bit more dash and combination, should become a good team. On the day's play Jackeytown deserved to win.
Mr W. L. Richards officiated as referee and Messrs Sutton and Rowland as linesmen.
