THE PREMIER ON THE COAST.
STATUE OF THE LATE MR SEDDON UNVEILED.
(Peb Press Association.)
HOKITIKA, May 25
The Premier and party arrived from the North at midday. The weather was very unfavourable for the afternoon's ceremony, the unveiling of the Westland Seddon Memorial. It is a statue of the late Mr Seddon in white Carrara marble. It stands about eight feet high on a pedestal of polished grey granite,, suitably inscribed. The figure is a good likeness. It is at present veiled by the Union Jack and New Zealand flags which Avere used at the unveiling of the memorial tablet to the late Mr Seddon in St. Paul's, London, recently. The flags in question are now the property oi Mrs Seddon, who is here for to-day's ceremony. , . The Premier gives a political sxldress to-night, and takes deputations and visits public institutions to-mor-row, followed by a municipal banquet in the evening. He visits Reefton and Greymouth on Friday.
