AND AUSTRALIA'S NAVY.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
(Per Press Association.) Received May 25, 8.45 a.m.
SYDNEY, May 25. Mr Fisher, Federal Premier, speaking at Narrandera, said the Labour party had never doubted the ability of th© British fleet to protect Australia, but no nation had ever become great who deputed its defence to other people. Australians must undertake the task themselves. Referring to the cable service, he said the news of the world as supplied by the cables in the daily'press was not merely inadequate but misleading. They did not want to hear about dog fights and big dinners. They wanted to know how the causc of humanity was progressing in every part of the world. lie hoped a better cable service might be inaugurated soon over a State line of their own.
