THE FUNERAL OBSERVANCES.

Queen Alexandra granted an audienoe to Sir George Reid to-day and expressed in most touching terms her gratitude for the loyal devotion shown during King Edward's reign and to his memory. She spoke gratefully of the sympathy extended to her by the Australian people.

Queen Alexandra also gave an audience to Mr Roosevelt and Lord Strathcona together. Princes Edward and Albert havs returned to Dartmouth and Osborne to resume their, educational work.

Queen Alexandra, in a reply to an unfounded rumour that she will hereafter reside in Denmark, declared that she will regard England as her home.

KING EDWARD'S ILLNESS,

AN UNFOUNDED RUMOUR.

LONDON, May 24. It is officially announced that Queen Alexandra is very grieved at a report printed and circulated by some Society that King Edward's death was caused by a vaccine treatment which he had received to prevent his contracting influenza or pneumonia before the journey to Biarritz.

Queen Alexandra wishes it known that before King Edward left England he never felt in. better spirits _ than after this treatment, for it kept him in excellent health, to his Majesty's entire satisfaction, for no less than fifteen months.

The attack at Biarritz was in no way related to the previous course of treatment.
