COBAR-DUCHESS ENQUIRY.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 13. The Magisterial inquiry into the recent collision between the steamers Duchess and Cobar was today. The decision will be given next Monday. Leo. H. Jacobsen, a passenger on the Duchess, said he was under the impression that. Captain Jones was a little the worse for liquor, W. H. Napier considered Captain Jones was perfectly sober. Herbert "Radcliffe said he did riot notice signs of insobriety. A. Hall, engineer on duty on the Duchess, said Jones was perfectly sober.
H. Downes, caretaker on Day's Bay wharf, corroborated this, as ajso did J. W. Williams, shipping clerk.
