A TRIPLE OUTBREAK.
IN PALMERSTON LAST NIGHT.
EVIDENCE OF INCENDIARISM
HEAVY LOSSES,
Palmerston was thrown into a state of the wildest excitement last night by the most sensational series of conflagrations yet recorded in.the history of the town. Tho first and worst occurred at 8 o'clock, and it almost completely destroyed the Palmorston High School, one of the largest and most up-to-date institutions of its kind in the Dominion. The second broke out at the rear of Mr W. Pegdcn's premises while the High School was still blazing fiercely, and the result was the destruction of Mr Pcgden's storing, packing, and upholstering rooms, and the gutting of Messrs Porteous and Co.'s stables. And to crown the evening's sensations, just as tho Brigadesmen were responding to tho roll call in front of Mr Pegden's, one of their number saw smoke issuing from Millar and Giorgi's temporary promises not a hundred yards off, and in a few moments a great body of smoke and flame issuing from back and front of the building confirmed the startling news.
