THE PALMERSTON TOURNAMENT,
TO-DAY'S RESULTS
Lovely weather greeted the _ tennis players to-day, and 6ome very enjoyable games resulted. Following are the results to the luncheon adjournment: — Combined Handicap Doubles, second round.—Prouse and Miss Simpson (scr) beat Wither and Mrs Fitzherbert, 50 — 41; Mo'odic and Mrs Moodie (30) beat Pownall and Miss E. J. Wilson (15), 50-32.
Ladies' Handicap Doubles, second round. —Mrs Watson and Miss Hartgill (scr) beat Misses Smith and Grant (22), 50 —40; Misses Simpson and N. Wilson (9) beat Misses Porter and Wilson (9), 50—42.
Men's Championship Singles, semifinal. —Stedman beat Johnston, 9 —B. Men's Championship Doubles. —Fisher and Prouse beat Stow and Collins, 9 — 6; Adams and Stedman bear Cox and Bill. 9—3.
Ladies' Championship Singles, final.— Miss Hartgill beat Mrs Payne, 12 —10. Men's Handicap Doubles, second round. —Pownall and Levien (27) beat Johnston and Pharazyn (15), 60—35; Wither and Waldegrave (30) beat Reed and Palmerson (36), 60—53; Stedman and L. Smith (25) beat Pownall and Levien (27), 60— 49.
Ladies' Handicap Singles, second round.—Miss Simpson (15) beat Miss E. G. Wilson (15), 53 —51; Mrs Payne (scr) beat Mrs Adams (35), 50 —47. Combined Championship Doubles. — Fisher and Miss Hartgill boat Pownall and Miss Wilson, 9 —4; Prouse and Miss Simpson beat Cox and Miss J. Wilson, 9—4.
