COMMERCIAL.
MARKET REPORT. Harry Palmer reports a moderate entry of pigs, confined principally to weaners, slips and 6tores, very few porkers offering. "VVe had a very big entry of poultry of splendid all-round quality, and priccs showed a distinct improvement. There is a scarcity of vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, and parsnips. Potatoes are firm in price, and there is a good demand for sound samples. Onions are now more plentiful, and prices are easier. We have had an exceptionally heavy week with fruit, over 2000 cases of Hawke's Bay and colonial fruit being handled. Prices are on a par with previous quotations, pears and peaches 6lightly easier; tomatoes slight impi'ovement. We quote:— Weaners, 3s 6d, 4s 6d, ss, 5s 6d, 6s; slips, 6s 6d, 7s, 7s 6d; stores, Bs, 9s, 10s; porkers, 17s, 18s, 18s 6d. Poultry—Turkey gobblers, 9s 6d to 10s 3d; ducks, 3s to os 6d, average 4s 6d; cockerels, prime 4s to 5s 6d, average [4s 6d; half-grown and chickens Is to 4s pair; pullets, 36 9d to ss; hens, 2s 3d to 4s. average 3s 6d. Fruit— Pears, 2s 6d, 3s 6d, 4s 6d, os 6d; peaches, 2s, 2s 6d, 3s, 4s; plums, 2s to 3s 6d; tomatoes, Is, Is 6d, 2s, 2s 6d; cucumbers, Is; apples, 2s, 2s 6d, 36, 3s 6d, 4s 6d, cooking and dessert; quinces, £d to Id lb; onions, 7s to 6s cwt. ; pumpkins, Is to Is 6d each, per sack 4s ; marrows, 2s 6d ; pig potatoes, 2s 6d; prime table potatoes, 10s to lis sack; inferior, touched with blight, 4s to 7s; wheat, 18s; pollard, 9s 4d ; barley , os, 10s; chaff , 2s 6d to 3s 6d; bacon, rolled and sides, 6d: Clearing sales well attended, and sales of furniture good.

LONDON QUOTATIONS. LONDON, March 13. Sheep, North Island 3£d, best 4d; lamb unchanged. Beef, fores 3 3-16 d, hinds 3|d. Australian sheep, heavy 3 7-16 d. light 3^d; lambs, best brands 4§d, fair quality inferior quality 4|d! Beef, fores 3gd. hinds 3gd; River Plate sheep, heavy 3gd, light 3 l-16d; beef, fores 3ad, hinds 3 9-16 d; lambs 4£d. Rabbits are very flat. Sydney's exstore, 15s to 15s 6d. Plenty are offering at 12s 6d to 13s for delivery early in April. Wool is good of sale. There is a better selection of crossbreds suitable for America, which realised high prices. Merinos are very firm. Catalogued to date 49,937 bales, sold 46,387 bales. The immense production of copper in America is affecting prices, though consumption is excellent.
