CHANGE OF VENUE GRANTED.

(Feb Press Association.! WELLINGTON, March 12. The Chief Justice to-day granted a change of venue in the case of Joseph P. Davis and Martin Haines, who had been committed for trial at Wanganui on a charge of wilfully setting Are to some shops in Wanganui. Mr Wilford, in making the application, said the feeling of indignation in Wanganui over the case was at such fever lieat that it was impossible for the accused to be tried by a jury that was not inflamed by popular prejudice against them. The Crown opposed the application.
