Duez, liquidator for several religious Associations, who was arrested in Paris for misappropriating £200,000, has confessed to embezzling £20,00° when he was a solicitor's clerk. He had since lost £25,000 on the Stock Exchange. The police raided the house of Duez's mistress and discovered £8000 worth of jewellery and various shares and Bank accounts. They are also searching the house of a woman to whom Duez arranged to advance £12^000. Received March 14, 8.45 a.m. PARIS, March 13. The examining magistrate, who has charge of the case, discovered that 150 persons belonging to the political world and press had been bribed under a false name by Duez. The latter refuses to disclose the names. Martm, formerly his assistant, has been arrested on a charge of complicity in the liquidation scandals.
