FATAL ACCIDENT AT KiMBOLTON.
CRUSHED BY A FALL OF EARTH
VICTIM DIES IN THE HOSPITAL
A man named John Dcmpsey was admitted to tho Hospital yesterday from the Kimbolton district suffering from very serious injuries. He was only in the' institution for two hours before he succumbed, death taking place at six o'clock last evening. , From what can be gathered it appears the unfortunate man was working in a metal pit when a fall of earth crushed him. The scene of the accident was some distance from the township, and his mates had to carry him three miles on a, stretcher before reaching the main road. He was then brought on in a motor car to Palmerston. An examination at the Hospital showed he had sustained most painful and severe wounds. Ho had a compound fracture and dislocation of the ankle; a fracture of the log just below the knee;., several ribs injured; and severe cuts about the head. Ho was also suffering from the shock, and the case was considered almost hopeless from the tir=t. ' Deceased was practically a stranger in the district.
