SYDNEY, March 9.
The secretary of the Tennis Association has received a belated cable challenge for the Davis Cup from the English Association. As the challenge is two days late the American Association is to be consulted as to accepting it.
There is a serious epidemic of diphtheria in the city and suburbs due to the milk supply.
Interstate Steamship Company has reduced the 25 per cent increase in fares imposed at the commencement of the coal strike.
Hosking Bros., proprietors of the Lithgow Ironworks, have been fined thirty guineas for discharging employees for refusing io work on pay on Saturday.
