CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS IN

ENGLAND

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.! (Pes Press Association.) LONDON, March 8. A service was hold at St. Paul's Cathe-di-al yesterday in commemoration of Admiral Collingwood's death, the centenary of which was also celebrated in the Cathedral at Newcastle, his birthplace.

Cuthbert Collingwood was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne on September 26th, 1750, and died at sea near Port Mahon, Balearic Islands, on March 7th. 1810. Ho fought at Bunker's Hill, fought at St. Vincent, and was second m command at Trafalgar, succeeding to the chief command on Nelson's death. He was created Lord Collingwood in 1805.
