THE LILLIS CASE,

The Lillis case has caused a sensation in America. Lillis is a bachelor whoso age is stated as 97. A maid in Cudahy's employ stated that she heard a- scuffle and found Lillis on the floor with a rope round his neck and feet and body and stripped f.-om the waist downwards. A chauffeur who was assisting Cudahy placed a revolver at her head and she thereupon fled. The police came in response to a telephone message sent by Cudahy s wife. The latter states that the attack on Lillis was the culmination of a long course of Cudahy's brutality against her. WARRANT FOR CUDAHY'S ARREST LONDON, March 8.

The Daily Mail's New York correspondent states that Cudahy's motor car was found abandoned three miles from home. It is evident that Lillis was entrapped. The State Prosecutor has issued a warrant for Cudahy's arrest. Lillw and Cudahy were previously intimate friends. Received March 9, 9 a.m. LONDON, March 8.
