COMMERCIAL.
I THE CLUB HOTEL. During- the past month Mr 11. B. , Tucker, of the Club Hotel, has carried out some extensive improvements and additions to his already very complete establishment The private 'bar which has done duty at the hotel for so many years past, has given way to a newoffice at the main entrance, while a. cosy sitting-room for private use has also been provided. The office is replete with the necessary telephonic communication all through the house, is well lighted, and is most conveniently situated for the transaction of business. The sitting room has been prettily papered and furnished, the doors in mottled Walnut, and it forms a charming retreat. Another new private bar has been provided by removing the partition of two smaller rooms and a. chimney, the full space giving 20ft. extra counter room for the usual theatre rush. The new room has been furnished and decorated in excellent style, the lighting , arrangements also being excellent. The bar conveniences are up to Iho best city style, and generally the new room forms a handsome addition to the well-known hostelry. Another bar ha? also been constructed in the American saloon, with access from the private bar, and will bo used on necessary occasions. Upstairs the hotel has also received its annual renovation, all the bathrooms and nearly all tho bedrooms receiving attention from the paperhangor and painted with excellent results. Tingey and Co. supplied the papers, whilst Clarke and Thompson did the decorative work, and the general result, is one upon which Mr Tucker and hie tradesmen may be fairlv congratulated.
GRAND HOTEL. Finding that his bar trade was increasing to isueh an extent, Mr E. Trevor, of the Grand Hotel, has found it necessary to instal another bar, and with that object in view has converted tho billiard room into a circular bar, fitted up with all the- latest improvements, and stocked with nil the best, wines, spirits and beers. This new addition makes a. still further improvement, to an already up-to-date hotel. The new bar will be open for business this evening. MADAME HARRIS Intimates in our advertising , columns that she may be consulted by those desiring lessons in voice culture at her studio, Main street East, opposite the Empire Hotel, also as to terms for pianoforte tuition. Madame Harris has had a very wide experience both in voice production nnd culture and with the pianoforte, and her methods of imparting her knowledge are such as to command encouraging success even with the most diffident pupils. Elementary and advanced pupils will each find it to their advantage to consult Madame Harris. AUCTION BALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., hold their autumn horse fair at Tattersnll's, Hawera, on Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12.
