EVENTS WORTH NOTING.
The "Rough Rider" Clothing Co. are still offering their entire stock at genuine sale prices. Their famous 'mantailored" walking skirt is being fuhy appreciated, and is selling in large numbers "Rough Rider" clothing can only be purchased at their establishment, next the Clarendon Hotel, the Square, Palmerston North. Mr A. H. Rogers (late of the Albion Hotel Wanganui) announces that he has taken over the Royal Hotel from Mr U Forster. The house, which has been entirely refurnished and remodelled, alforde splendid accommodation for the travelling public at a reasonable tariii. All the leading brands of wines and spirits are stocked and Speights' beer is the only beer drawn. Tenders are invited for removal ot shop premises in Rangitikei street and for the erection of a store in brick for Mason, Struthors and Co., Ltd. A bazaar will be held at Tokomaru on March 9 and 10 in aid of the hall funds. C. Smith's summer fair is open at 8.30 a.m. daily. Bargains are available in all departments. Murray and Thomas, steam, gas, oil and refrigerating engineers, of Rangitikei street, announce that they have been appointed Palmerston agente for the Fielding and Platt, Ltd., gas engince, suction gas producers, oil engines, etc. This make,of engine has now been on the market some time, and all who have used it have been thoroughly well satisfied. The suction gas producing plant, manufactured by the firm, is fitted with all the latest appliances, and owing to its simplicity is sold at a much cheaper rate than other makes. Meeers Murray and Thomas will be pleased to give anyone interested full particulars in connection with these engines and plants. Railway Department advertise train arrangements for Danncvirko races. The Imperial Fish Mart proprietors notify that ,they rtoce'ive supplies of fish from the Napier Trawling Co. daily, and sell same in the best possible condition. A notice is inserted in reference to the estate of the late Sarali Maclean. A notice under the Licensing Act appears in our advertising columns. In another column the Palmerston North Borough Council calls applications for the lease of the land known as the old racecourse, which is classed a<3 some of the beet land in the district, and is eminently suited for a milk run or small dairy farm. The Council is prepared, if the tenant requires to reside on the land, to erect a cottage and cow bails for six cows, and lessees may tender alternately for the grazing only, or for the grazing and rent of cottage and bails. This is a splendid opportunity for anyone desiring to commence as a small farmer or a supplier of milk to the borough. The whole of the rent accruing from reserves must by Act be spent on reserves, and the Council is anxious to secure as largo a rental as possible for this purpose, and this ie why alternate tenders are being called. The lease is for five years, and tenders close with the Town Clerk on the 15th of the present month.
