CARTERTON, Feb. 10. Burglars last night broke into the office of T. J. Rathbone's timber yard and fruitlessly examined the safe, which was not opened. They decampcd with seven shillings' worth of stamps. Thero is new due so far. The police have the matter in hand. This is the second burglary during the past week.
DUNEDIN. Feb. 10. In the Supreme Court this morning Judge Williams granted a decree nisi in -the cas<% Birkett v. Birkett, wife's petition, dissolution of marriage on the grounds of desertion.
CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 10. A large number of spurious coins are in circulation in Christchurch. One big m is reported to have been victimised to the extent of £13 in one day. The Tramway Board also suffered to some extent.
Sarah Ann Smart* aged 65, died suddenly at Ynldhurst yesterday, the cause being a rupture of the aorta.
