WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.

The Wanganui Presbytery met at Marton Junction on Tuesday. There was a large attendance. Mr Whit© was Mode- ' rator. Apologies were received from Rev. Morton and Mr R. EL Simpson. The Rev. f J. D. McKenzie was welcomed. Rev. Trotte, of Auckland, was also welcomed and associated. . The Revs Roes and Hall were appointed to draw up a minute of sympathy with Mr A. McGregor, of Runterville, on the death of his son. The Rev. G. Budd was elected Moderator for the ensuing six months. The _ Rev. Mr Jolly reported on the induction of Mr Evans, to Fordell, stating that the service was thoroughly hearty. Mr Gordon reported on the induction of Rev. Mr J. D. McKenzie to St. Paul's, Wanganui, ■ the congregation beI ing large and the welcome hearty. Mr Jolly reported ..that Mr G. K. Aitlcen had received a unanimous call from Foxton, to act as their minister. Mr McCully, of Tiakitahuna, spoke in support of the call, speaking of the goodness Mr Aitken had done and the feeling of attachment to Mr Aitken on the part of the people. Mr Aitken signified his acceptance of the call after Mr Gordon had led the Presbytery in prayer. The ordination and Ynduction of Mr Aitken was fixed for Monday, 28th February, Mr Jolly (Moderator) to preside and induct, Mr White to preach and address the minister, and Mr Budd to address the congregation. These three with Messrs Snow and J. A. McKenzie to bo the Presbytery'g commission. Messrs Gorton and White were appointed as a committee to draw up a minute of sympathy with Mr Hutson, and Mr Jas. Mcßeth, and the family of Mr J. H. Murray in the bereavement that has befallen them. The Revs. J. D. McKenzie. Morton, Evans and McCully of Wanganui, elders, were appointed a committee to report to the Presbytery re minute 58,' General Assembly proceedings, re church exten-

sion. , Messrs Budd, Aitken, Whites Snow, McFarlane and J. A. McKenzie wore appointed a committee to deal with the remit from the General Assembly r6 Marriage of Missionaries. An application from Eastbrook for a loan of £75 from tho Century Fund was granted.. The clerk reminded the Presbytery that the 20th February was set apart as a special day of intercession for students. Mr White gave notice of motion re Presbyterial visitation of charges. k wa6 agreed that Marton, Hunterville, Rewa, Halcombe and Mangaweka be visited this year. Mr Ross reported that on account of his health he found it necessary to resign the Moderatorsbip of Taihape. Ho also reported on the state of matters i there. Mr Ross's resignation was accepted with regret, and thanks were accorded to him for his earnest work in connection with Taihape. Mr Chisholm was appointed Moderator iof Taihape and Utiku. Messrs Budd and McCully and Mr Robb (elder) were appointed to visit Taihape and Utiku, tho commission to do its best to have the district raised to a sanctioned charge. The report from Rewa stated that in a few weeks a, church would be opened, practically free of debt. Reports were received from Halcombe, Shannon, Bulb, and Foxton. Messrs White and McCully were appointed a committee to draw up a letter of commendation expressing tho Presbytery's hearty approval and satisfaction with Mr McKenzie's work in the Presbytery. Mr Aitken reported re a new church at Tiakitahuna, and it was agreed that plans should bo examined by a commission of the Presbytery to examine and approve. Mr McCully reported in conncction with tho call from St. Stephen's Church, Auckland, to the Rev. J. Jolly, of Palmcrston North, and laid on the table the relative documents. Messrs Trotter, Peacock, and Aitken appeared from Auckland in support of the call. Messrs Balsillie, Munro, and Scott appeared on behalf of St. Andrew's congregation. Much regret was expressed at the loss to the congregation, but no obstacle was put in the way of the. translation in view of tho general good of the Church. Mr Jolly intimated his acceptance of the call. After prayer, it, was resolved that tho call be placed in Mr Jolly's hands. This being done. Mr Jolly accepted the call. It was decided to sever the pastoral tie as from the date* of induction to St. Stephen's, Mr Budd to be interim Moderator of St." Andrew's.
