Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their P.F.A. sale of to-day as follows: —We submitted a very heavy yarding of sheep, numbering about 4000, and a good yarding of cattle, to a largo attendance. The sheep entered comprised mostly lambs of medium quality;, which did not meet with keen competition. All sheep of gopd quality met a ready sale. All classes of cattle sold well, especially young steers.- Quotations: —Young ewes 12s 4d to 13s 3d, aged ewes in poor condition 3s to 5s 3d, forward wethers lis to lis . JOHNSON VILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows: —We offered a good entry of prime bullocks and 6heep, which sold readily at lato rates. Quotations: Prime summer bullocks £7 17s 6d, light £7 10s, prime wethers 13s 9d, good ewes lis 6d, medium lis, plain 10s, woolly lambs lis 4d, prime shorn 10s to 10s Id, good shorn lambs 9s to 9s lOd. ADDINGTON. (Per Pbess Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 9. At Addington live stock market there were good yardings of stock, but as farmers were busy harvesting the attendance was not up to the average. Fat cattle were irregular of sale at late rates, store sheep were in good demand, all except backward lambs, fat lambs showed a further rise in prices, and fat sheep sold at last week's rates. Pigs were dull of sale. Store cattle were in fair demand and dairy cows sold well. There was a large yarding of store sheep, fully twice the number offered last week. The bulk consisted of rape lambs, of which a considerable proportion were a good class. For forward lambs there was a good demand at last week's prices, but for the poorer classes there was a decline of 6d to 9d per head, as the supply was in excess of the requirements of buyers present. There was a moderate entry of ewes and wethers, and these showed practically no change in values. Best rape lambs sold at 5s lOd to 10s 10d, small 6s 5d to Bs. Forward wethers to 14s 9d, medium 10s 6d to 12s 6d, lighter 9s 6d to 116, 2-tooth ewes to 13s 9d, and 24 8-tooth ewes to 12s lOd. The entry of fat lambs totalled 6615, the largest number offered this season. There were 6ome prime lots penned, but a considerable proportion were on the light side. These, however, sold remarkably well, and were firmer by about Is per head, while the primest lambs showed a rise of about 9d per head. One-fourth of the yarding approximately sold at 14s to 15s, about one-half at 13s to 13s lid, and the balance at lQs 4d to 12s lid, the bulk thus making over 13s. There were 6035 taken for export, the demand being keen, and 580 were bought by butchers. The yarding of fat sheep was a comparatively small one. There was a good demand for wethers for export, and a 6 the supply of ewes was not beyond the butchers' requirements there was no change in values. The range of prices was 15s to 16s Bd, others 12s 3d to 14s 6d, prime ewes lis 6d to 14s 9d, others 8s i;o✓lis, merino wethers 8s to 9s 2d. There were 249 fat cattle penned, being mostly' dealers' lines, and the quality was of 'good general average. At the opening of the sale nearly the whole yarding was passed, but afterwards all but seven or eight lots were sold. The sale was irregular, but prices showed practically no chango, prime beef being equal to 20s to 225, medium 18s 6d to 19s 6d, and cow and inferior 17s to 18s per lOOlbs. Steers brought £6 5s to £9 17s 6d, heifera £5 to £7 17s 6d, and cows £4 7s 6d to £7 7.4 6d. Veal calves formed a small yarding, and sold at 4s 6d to 5s Id. A small yarding of store cattle sold at late rates, yearlings making 26s to 335. 15 to 18-months £2 4s to £2 6s, 2yr steers £3 17s 6d, 2yr heifers £5 2s 6d, 2£yr steers £4 10s, 3yr, steers £5 5s to £6" ss, 3vr heifers £4 4s to £4 15s,_ and dry cows £2 10s to £4 lis. Dairy cows were in good demand, and realised £3 10s to £10. There was a small yarding of pigs, and a dull sale for both fat and stores. Largo baconers made 42s to 495, and lighter 34s to 40s, equal to 4|d to per lb; large stores 23s to 325, medium 17s to 20s, and weaners-8s 6d to 12s.

GRAIN AND POTATOES. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 8. The wheat that has been threshed since the rain is coming forward in better condition, than was expected, and there is not such keen demand for earlier threshed lots. A line of very prime unweathered wheat has been sold at 4s at country stations. The bright drying weather that has now set in is enabling stook threshing to be resumed. Cocksfoot is now offering freely, and prices remain at quotations. The lato heavy rains have greatly improved the appearance of the potato crops, and the_ main crop is now looking exceedingly vigorous and healthy. KAIAPOI WOOLLEN COMPANY. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 8. The Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company has declared an interim dividend of 3 per cent, for the half-year ending January 31. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. The fourth of the series of local wool sales will be held on Tuesday next. Entries closed on Tuesday evening, that is to say, wool not actually in store then cannot be offered at the pending sale. The wool to be submitted will be about 16,000 bales, the offerings of the several brokers being approximately as follow: —Dalgety and Co., 6250 bales; Murray, Roberts and Co., 2600 bales; Levin and Co-., 3000 bales; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, 2200 bales; Abraham and Williams, 1700 bales; United Farmers and W.F.C.A., 2500 bales; total, 16,000 bales.—Dominion.
