"MUNICIPAL PICKINGS" AT NAPIER.
COUNCILLORS R ESIG N
NAPIER, Feb. 3
Last night the Borough Council carried a motion calling for a return of Councillors who had been supplying- the Council with goods. Leaving out Councillor Thomson, who has resigned in consequence of the Government Auditor's "tag" to the balance-sheet about his supplies, the rcpQrfc submitted in pursuance of the motion goes to show that the seats of four othor Councillors, are vacant if the law is to he observed. One Councillor's supplies (direct supplies that is) amounted to £6 18s, another's to £16 17s, others to £15 11s, £8 9s, and £7 10s, and another, if supplying , as agent of a firm is to. count, £26 12s. Perhaps this last should not count as "supplying."
