RAILWAY CONFERENCE.
ELECTION OF A.S.R.S. DELEGATES. The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants has just elected repre-; sentatives by ballot for its biennial conference, which opens in Wellington early next month. A very lengthy order-paper has to be considered by the conference, chief among the items being the consideration of schemes for the society's internal reorganisation submitted by the Otago aiid Wanganui branches. Amendments in the Railway" Superannuation Fund _ are proposed, including a provision that widows and children of superannuated members shall continue to draw allowances after the member's death. If a railwayman dies while ici active employment his widow and family receive pensions, but this privilege does not apply once the employee had drawn superannuation. The Executive Council of the society will submit a motion in favour of inaugurating a sick benefit fund for railwaymen throughout the Dominion, to be controlled by the A.S.R.S.
