A PROTEST. (Br Electbic Telegraph—Copybight.) (Pkb Press Association.) Received Jan. 12, 8.50 a.m. OTTAWA, Jan. 11. The Hon. Foster, Canadian exMinister for Finance, speaking at the Empire Club, Toronto, protested against the impression conveyed by some of Sir Wilfrid Laurier's recent speeches that political and fiscal freedom and the power of negotiating treaties should be wrested from Britain. Mr Foster maintained that already they had much freedom, and Canada could not have absolute autonomy in international relations without declaring her independence. If such talk was serious it was revolutionary.
