LODGE HUIA, No. 171
There was a very large gathering of craftsmen at the Masonic Hall, Church street, this afternoon, when the consecration of Lodge Huia, No. 171, took place. The riew Lodge starts with nearly thirty charter members. The consecration ceromony was performed by R.W. Bro. R. Fletcher. Deputy Grand Master, assisted by M.W. Bro. H. J. Williams, P.G.M. The officiating Grand Officers were: — G.S. Warden, R.W. Bro. J. Moncrieff, P.G.W.; G.J. Warden, R.W. Bro. Goo. Hulme; Acting Grand Chaplain, V.W. Bro. Rev. T. Porritt, P.G.C.; Acting Grand Director of Ceremonies, Wor. Bro. H. H. Seaton; Acting Grapd Secretary, Wor. Bro. Geo. Smith; Acting G.S. Deacon, Wor. Bro. Oscar Neilson; Acting G.J. Deacon, Wor. Bro. H. Preston; Acting Grand Sword Bearer, Wor. Bro. E. Bosher. Bro. C. W. Naylor was musical director and Bro. F. Meyrick trumpeter.. Bro. J. A. Pawson. P.M., was duly installed as W.M., and the other officers invested were: —Deputy Master. Bro. J. R. Graham, P.M.; Senior Warden, Bro. M. D. Stagpoolo; Junior Warden, Bro. A. J. Graham; Treasurer, Bro. G. McDonald; Secretary, Bro. W. J. Culver; Director of Ceremonies, Bro. Chas. F. Spooner, P.M.; Senior Deacon, Bro. J. N. Hodges; Junior Deacon, Bro. J. Stone; Senior Steward, Bro. J. A. Smith; Junior Steward, Bro. George Burrows; Junior Steward, Bro. George = Skinner: Inner Guard, Bro. Simon da ; Santos; Tyler, Bro. Hugo Newmann. : Among the visitors were a number of brethren from Christchurch and Wellington, whilst the sister Lodges from all over the district were strongly represented.
