SPORTING.
NOTES. '
The Star says the Auckland Cup candidate Aborbrothock was in a bad way on Thursday night with an offection of the kidneys, and although he was out on Saturday morning he only did walking exercise. It is reported that several Australian "sports" have been disqualified in India. An Indian disqualification takes a deal of removing. Prince Foote's winnings in stakes to date total 12,14550v5, of which he won £1412 as a two-year-old and £10,733 as a three-year-old. ' An offer of 800 sovs was refused recently for Tawhaki, which was acquired by his present owner, Mr J. McCombo, for 500 guineas a few weeks ago. A sporting match has been arranged between two well-known North Canterbury residents, Messrs C. O. Rutherford and C. H. Ensor, who have matched two hacks, Deceived and Spider respectively, for £50 a side for a walking race over 50 miles of rough country. The judge and the course have yet to be decided upon.
Among the horses advertised for sale in the London Sportsman is the exAustralian Bobadil, who found his way to England from India. The St. Paul gelding Sir Prize will be ridden in the Auckland Cup by Hatch, who will also have the mount on Armlet in the Railway Handicap. In the event of H. Dceley being unsuccessful with his appeal, it is understood J. Conquest will Tiave the mount on Advocate in the Auckland Cup. C. Jenkins has practically recovered from the injuries he received at Riccarton last month, and will have the mount on All Red in the Auckland Cup.

If present intentions are carried out, both Downfall and Chanteuse will carry Mr T. H. Lowry's colours in the Auckland Cup. The first-named will be ridden by Wilson, and the latter by Bennett.
It is stated that J. E. (To the Editor.)
Sir,—ln connection with the forthcoming meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club there are many complaints from officers of sister clubs in reference to the method adopted by the Manawatu Club of issuing complimentary tickets for their meeting, and the fact of sending tickets to some officers, and leaving others out has been a sore point for a considerable time past. Contrast this treatment with that of the Rangitikei and Ashhuret Racing Clubs, who send complimentary tick- ? Iu a lv the officers of each racing club in the Metropolitan district. The ,Wcllington Metropolitan Club issue a pass to each officer of any racing club in the Metropolitan district, which gives the holder a right to attend • anv race meeting in the Wellington district tree of any charges whatever. This does not mean that the holders take the advantage of attending every meeting that is held in the district, but should they at any time feel inclined to visit Masterton for instance, it is not necessary to wait on the secretary of the club and explain who you are and what office you hold in a sister club. It should be the effort of the Manawatu Racing Club to make the club a popular institution with every sister club in the district, hence the necessity of adopting a; different system.—Yours, etc.. ">
