Owing to America under the new tariff re-imposing the tonnage tax on the great lakes, Sir Wilfrid Laurier is about to retaliate. Only one Canadian passenger and one freight line are now seriously affected, but many American vessels carry grain from Port Arthur to Buffalo. "These will be subjected to a condition tax.
