LEVIN-CREATFORD RAILWAY.
At a meeting ot the Horowhenua* County Council on Saturday a letter wasread from. Mr B. R. . Gardener, Mayor of Levin, who considered it time united action was taken in connection with the proposed Levin-Greatford railway, and stating he intended to ask Messrs Field and Newman, M's.P., to receive a de-_ putatlon. He suggested a meeting in November, when the matter could be fully considered.
Cr Prouse supported the letter, and Cr Venn considered the proposed line must come sooner or later. He thought the present line from Palmerston , North would have to be duplicated, and that a single line from Levin to Marton would be found to be cheaper than having the whole distance duplicated. The following resolution was passed r-V-Prouse-Tompsitt: That the Council cooperate with the local bodies interested in the Levin-Greatford railway in bringing before tho Government the importance of this work and-the urgent,necessity of having the surveys completed and the land acquired for this purpose, and the,membors of the Wirokino' riding be the representatives of- this Council with power to act., \ (.. .
