SEVEN-ROOMED HOUSE BURNT

(Special to "Standabd.") ASHHURST, April 29

41>out 7.30 last night a seven-room-ed dwelling at Asnhurst, the property of G. Neviil, was totally destroyed by fire. .' The house was partially furnished and also contained a large quantity of apples from Mr Nevill's orchard. Ho was absent from the house (wherein he had been working) for a quarter of an hour and left a lighted candle. On his return he found the house on fire. ■ . , ~,,, He called for assistance, but little could be done as the flames had too good a hold. A few articles ot turniture were saved. The building was insured tor tioU in the New Zealand office.
