ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS.
(Peb Pbkss Association.) DTJJSTEDIN, March 20. It rained all night, but it shows signs of clearing now. Members of the Dunedin Centre were anxious to postpone the amateur athletic champjjonsliifps t'ill Tuesday (Anniversary Day), owing to the state of the Caledonian grounds, but as the Wellington and Christcliurch competitors were unable to stay the meeting is proceeding this afternoon. Results:— 100 Yards Flat Championship.— First heat—Woodger (Wellington) 1, McWhirter (Canterbury) 2; time, 10; 1-5 sec. Second heat—Gpie (Canterbury) 1, Cook (Canterbury) 2; time, 10 2-ssec. Half-mile Championship.—Haskins (Canterbury) 1, Harding (Wellington) 2, Moore (Otago) 3. Eight others ran. Won by two yards. Harding made his effort too soon.
