STOCK MARKET.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report for tho week ending March 19, 1909:—At Apiti on Tuesday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattlc. A better tone prevailed and we quitted the bulk of the entry at the following rates: —Two-tooth ewes to 12s 6d; 4-tooth ewes (small), 12s 9d to 13s Id; woolly lambs, 8s sd; shorn lambs to 7s 6d; 2-tooth wethers (small), 9s f.m. ewes to 9s; cull ewes, 4s 7d to 5s 6d; fat and forward cows, £3 5s to £3 10s; store cows, 30s; forward cows, £2 17s 6d to £3; springing heifers, £3 5s to £4 Is; yearling steers, 395; weaner steers, 20s; 2%yr steers, £3 ss; sundries at late rates. At Feilding on Friday we yarded just on 3500 sheep and 100 head of cattle. Bidding at auction was not brisk, but business was done and very little went out unsold. A good demand exists for good quality breeding ewes, but inferior qualities are neglected. We quote:—Sheep.—Cull lambs, 2s 3d; medium lambs, ss; forward rape lambs, 7s; cull ewes, 2s 7d to 3s lid; aged ewes, 4s 5d to 6s sd; f.m. ewes, 8s to 8s 6d; s.m. ewes. 9s 9d to 10s 5d ; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 12s; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 9s 6d. Cattle. —Store cows, £2; aged cows, 22s 6d; fat and forward cows, £3 15s; springing heifers, £4; 2gyr empty heifers, £2 12s; fat heifers, £2 3s; 20-months steers, £2 2s; 2gyr steers, £3 10s to £3 15s.
Abraham and Williams. Ltd., Feilding office, report on the sale held yesterday: We ha,d a small yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was a fair attendance. We quote rape lambs, 7s, 7s 6d, 7s 7d, to 7s 9d; others, 4s 9d, ss, to 6s 4d; cull wethers, 8s 6d to 9s; small 2-th. ewes, lis 6d; f .m. ewes, 6s 9d to 7s; fat cows, £4, £4 3s 6d, to £4 9s 6d; dairy cows, £6 10s; 18 months steers, 235, 30s, to £2 3s; bulls, £1 7s 6d.
