Bryce's farm in the Kimbolton district, has been appointed agent for the N.Z.L. and M.A. Company in the Opunake district. Mr W. T. Jennings, M.P., formerly Grand President of the United Ancient Order of Druids, is present by invitation at the conference of Druids now being held at PalmerEton North. Mr R. Aldridgei B.Sc, youngest son of Mr George Aldridge, pastor of the Newton branch of the Church of Christ. Otago University's candidate is Hector Mac Lean, M.A., student in arts, and holder of first-class honours | in mental science. Victoria College, Wellington, has nominated Allan j Macdougall, B.A. Mr W. T. Wood, having retired from the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, opportunity was taken by Mr W. F. Jacob to-day to refer to Mr Wood's work. He moved, —"That the Association place on -record its appreciation of valuable services rendered to it by Mr Wood, both as Mayor of Palmerston and member for the district." Mr Jacob said that those members not behind the scenes had few opportunities for judging of Mr Wood's services to the Association, but they had been very real at the same time. The motion was seconded by Mr Dunk, and carried unanimously. During the discussion at the A. and P. meeting to-day on the question of the withdrawal of the agricultural scholarship offered by the Association, Mr Cohen suggested" that the money which was set aside by the Association for the purposes of the scholarship should be donated to the Palmerston Technical School, where it would earn a £1 for £1 subsidy, conditionally on it- being devoted to an agricultural scholarship. Were this suggestion followed, and the candidates prepared tip by the educational authorities responsible, it was possible that complete success would follow the present failure. Prior to the commencement of the Manawatu A. and P. Association's business this morning, the President, Mr F.-Arbon, on behalf of members of the committee and of the Association, presented the secretary, Mr J. C. Lane, as a souvenir of his recent marriage, with a handsome silver 6alver and-a cheque. Mr Arbon alluded in eulogistic terms to the great value of Mr Lane's services to the Association over a series of years, and expressed on behalf of the committee their felicitations on the event. Mr Lane replied in happy vein, and also expressed ' his sincere thanks for the kindly feeling that prompted the gifts and the expressions of the President.
