BOWLING.

Tho South Island defeated, the North by 173 to 160. On the seventh head the scores were '58 to 24 in favour of the North leland, but on the fourteenth the South Island was 114 to 108. The match was practically a scratch match, and was by no means representative of the two Islands. Mr L. D. Paterson, who returned to town from the Christchurch bowling tournament, speaks well of the greens played upon, all being very keen and up to tournament expectations. The good management of the games was marred by the insufficient attention paid to the catering side of the question, where payment was made for lunch and afternoon-tea, a business aspect conspicuous by its absence under the Northern Association's control.
