Several were wounded and two wore removed to the hospital. Five of the men wore arrested. Ihe arrests were resented by_ a large body of Lascars, who left the ship, and climbing the dock gates, marched down the street towards the lock-up. . A ship's officer and the Inspector or Police intercepted them and tried to persuade them to return. They declined, but consented to visit the police station and interview the arresters. On arrival at the police station they were locked in the yard and again declined overtures to return to their ship and were then arrested. The total number arrested was 71.
