A MUCH-MARRIED MAN.

AND A STRANGE COINCIDENCE. i'Pek PbessAssociation.) /■• .: DUNEDIN, December 17. A sensational arrest was effected yesterday afternoon when a man named Thomas Flynn/- aged about thiry-eight, who is alleged to-have three wives living, was apprehended at North East Valley on a warrant charging him.with having on the 4th February, 1904, at Dunedin, being a married person, gone through a form of marriage with.a single woman. It is understood that Flynn, who is described as a carpenter and labourer, came here from Launceston and U<-ut seven years ago married a single mtnan. named Hay at Arrowtowif, by whom ho has had children. Ho afterwards came to live in town and became acquainted with a young woman whom the warrant charges him. with marriage in 1904. x :ist month, it is alleged, he went a step fu>thor by marrying another ■ woman _ at a registry office, in the name of Gihvay, and he will be similarly charged in iespect to this case. There are families in each case and Flynn scorns, to ha/o been living with his real wife all the. time. The second marriage was contracted in Dunedin. while the first wif-3 was in Arrowtown. The first wife subsequently came to Dunedin and ab mt six "months after her arrival the second wife became suspicious / and accused Flynn of being already married. Flynn admitted this and the second wife thereupon refused to live with him. Up to this time Flynn had apparently been keeping two homes going. On the refusal of the second wife to have anything to do with him he lived with the first wife. He married both these women under the name of Flynn. Recently the woman whom Flynn married under the name- of Gilway came out of a hospital in a destitute condition and by a curious coincidence jvas taken to the home of \ Flynn's second wife by a charitably dieposed person. As the result of conyersa- | tions between these women, suspicions were aroused and inquiries made. Arrangements were then made whereby the second and third wives met Flynn at the same time in the street, a mutual friend being also on the spot. A stormv scene ensued and an information was laid against Flynn.
