A very old and well-esteemed settler of Rangiwahia, Mr W. McKoan, died hist week, aged 64 years. The death is announced of Mrs Robert Phillips, of Aorangi, Feikling. who has been ill for some time past. The death is reported from Auckland of the Rev. J. B. Sneyd, palter of the Mount Eden Baptist Church. Mr Sadler Smith, who formerly carried on farming pursuits at Fitzherbcrt in conjunction with Mr L. Wallis. is at ■present paying a visit to Palmorston. One of Folding's pioneer settlor,-*, Mrs John Richardson, died yesterday, aged 77 years. Deceased had resided in Feilding for over thirty years. Much sympathy has been expressed for her husLand and relatives. Mr W. Blakely, chief clerk at the Feikling Poet Office, has been transferred to Wellington. Prior to leaving- Feikling- ho was presented by the post and telegraph staff wiih a case of pipes. Mr Charles Saunders, tho English oratorio tenor, who is now in Wellington, is still suffering from a congested throat. Mr Saunders is under the care of Dr. Kingston Fyffo, and has been ordered •absolute rest for the next few days. The engagement in marriage, is announced by cablegram from London of Miss Clementine Hozier, daughter of the late Colonel Sir Henry Hozier, to Mr Winston Churchill, president of.the Poard of Trade. Miss Hozior is cousin to Baron .Nevrlands. Miss Pascoe, who hae been on the reaching staff of the Broad street "Methodist Sunday School for about 8£ years, hve years of which she has had charge of the infant class, and who is severing her connection with the school on the eve of her marriage, was yesterday the recipient of a silver tea-pot from her class, and a silver butter cooler from tho teachers. Mr F. Aikon, a capable member of tfha staff of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., who was recently di-ansferred from Palmerston to Hamilton, left by the mail train .this morning to tiiko up his duties in the Company's •office in the latter town. Mr Aikea bus ilx-en a resident of Palmerston for about oi<rht years and is a popular bowler. He is journeying to Hamilton via the Main Trunk line. The Eketahuna Express announces the death of an old resident in tho Ekotsihtina district in the person of Mrs Priest, wife of Mr S. Priest, senr., of Ronarokokako. The late Mrs Priest was _ a native of Staffordshire, and arrived in tho >eolony with her husband and family in 1881. " Up to the time- of the bu?h and •grass iires la-at sinner Mrs Priest had ■enjoyed excellent health, but it is thought the strain of that trying period brought •on. heart trouble, and since that time slit- has Lad indifferent health. Her (mil came somewhat unexpectedly, the decea-sed lady passing away in her sleep at- 10 o'clock on Saturday mcrainsr.
